Because their customers are your end-users—contractors and other electrical professionals who have come to rely on the product knowledge and industry experience provided by electrical distributors.

• More than 90% of contractors surveyed said they currently purchase electrical products from distributors; most plan on continuing to do so throughout 2009. That’s more than twice the number of contractors who cited home centers as their materials source.**

• Many distributors said they lost sales when they didn’t know about manufacturers’ products (54%) or programs (44%)+—when they lose sales, you lose sales!

Contractors rely on electrical distributors to assist with bids and recommend products or brands that are suitable for specific jobs.

• A study of distributor customers’ fax orders revealed that only 21% of their customers included a brand name or model number for a product—79% relied on the distributor to recommend specific products and/or brands.*

• In another survey, 79% of contractors stated that distributors suggested product substitutes and influenced brands purchased in a wide range of electrical products: lighting fixtures, lamps and light sources, power sources, regulators, conditioners, boxes, enclosures, fittings, circuit protection devices, conduits, raceways, wireways, test or measurement equipment, and hand tools.**
