Springfield Electric & Thomas & Betts Take Overall Awards

The 2007 TED Magazine “Best of the Best" marketing awards were presented at a luncheon hosted by the magazine during the NAED Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on May 8.  More than 350 industry executives registered for the lunch and took part in the recognition of the best electrical marketing campaigns fielded in 2006.  More than 365 entries were received this year, and a record 95 companies participated.  All entries were displayed, allowing all executives attending the NAED Annual Meeting an opportunity to review them. 

Each year the categories are split by sales volume so that competition is fair, occurring between like-sized firms. Distributors and suppliers alike are invited to submit entries in the following categories:

  • Integrated Promotional Campaign
  • Literature/Selling Tools
  • Web Sites
  • Publications
  • Merchandising
  • Public Relations
  • Events
  • Product Launch

Of the 42 separate category awards presented, only two-- one distributor and one supplier-- were selected to represent this year’s overall best marketing practices in the electrical distribution industry. Distributor Springfield Electric Supply (Springfield, Ill.) received the "Best of the Best Overall" distributor award, and Thomas & Betts (Memphis, Tenn.) took the "Best of the Best Overall" supplier award.

In the Distributors $25-200 Million category, Springfield Electric received two "Best of the Best" awards for its entries in the Print Advertising and Integrated Promotional Campaign categories.  In the Manufacturer Over $250 Million category, Thomas & Betts received three "Best of the Best" awards for its entries in the Direct Promotion, Events, and Literarture/Selling Tools categories. 

Look for additional highlights of the competition in TED’s June 2007 print edition.  Winning entries will also be on display during the 2007 AdVenture Sales & Marketing Conference in August in Chicago where judge Cookie Caloia will lead an entertaining session using the contest entries to illustrate how sales and marketing should work together.
