Recent Passings
Blon Driver Jr. died on July 12. He began a 43-year career in electrical sales in 1955 with General Electric, according to an obituary in the Oshkosh Northwestern. He followed 28 years with GE with a 15-year career with Midwestern Electric.
Stanford Goldman died on July 14. According to The Blade of Toledo, Ohio: “After World War II, he was put in charge of Commercial Electric Co. by his father, Nathan. The business became one of the largest independently owned General Electric distributorships. By the 1960s, it was the largest electrical distributor in the state.”

A.L.P. Changes: A.L.P. Lighting Components, Inc., recently announced some new personnel moves, all having to do with the “newly consolidated business unit devoted to plastics and metals product lines.”

Energy Focus Lures Plush: Mark Plush is the new vice president of finance and CFO at Energy Focus, Inc. He comes to the company from Keithley Instruments, where he worked for more than 28 years, the last 12 as vice president/CFO. Before becoming CFO, he was corporate controller for Keithley for 16 years.

Has been hired by Halco to fill the slot of Midwest regional sales manager. With 15-plus years of sales experience in C/I lighting products, he most recently worked as a regional sales manager for Havells USA. Earlier, he was national accounts specifications manager for Philips Lighting. |

Liteline hires Wylie: David Wylie is now a specification sales representative for Liteline in southern Ontario, Canada, bringing 22 years of lighting industry experience with him. |
LSG’s New Board Chair: James “Jim” Haworth, who was CEO, is now chairman of the board at Lighting Science Group. Before coming to the company, Haworth was a senior executive with Philips Professional Luminaires North America.
Nexxus Loses One: An 8-K filing by Nexxus Lighting, dated June 7, said that Patrick Doherty resigned from its board of directors. No other details were included.
Nicor Adds Three:
- Lance Schulz—now purchasing and inventory control specialist.
- Brett Wagoner—with years of territorial sales rep experience, he comes to NICOR to fill the slot of Western regional sales manager beginning in August.
- Curt Zackiewicz—is now solid state lighting engineer.
Orion Energy Systems Names Jacobson: Tryg Jacobson was appointed a Class II director of the company on the board of directors, with his initial term expiring at the 2012 shareholders’ meeting. From 1981 to 2010, Jacobson served as owner and chairman of Jacobson Roost, a Wisconsin-based marketing communications firm. He was also a member of the Kohler Foundation’s board of directors in that time.
TerraLUX’s New CEO: Mark Verheyen is now president and CEO of TerraLUX Inc, bringing with him more than 20 years of sales and senior management experience in the lighting industry. Most recently, he was with Panasonic’s Universal Lighting Technologies division as SVP of international sales and business development. Verheyen came to ULT as president of Vossich-Schwabe Inc., a company that was merged into Universal. He began his lighting career with Osram.

WAC Lighting Gains Shaheen: Maher Shaheen is now central regional sales manager for WAC Lighting. He has more than 20 years of lighting industry experience most recently as general manager and Internet commerce sales supervisor at multiple locations of Lamps Plus. |

Westinghouse Lighting Promotes Sargut: David Sargut, who was Northeast regional sales manager for Westinghouse Lighting, is now national sales manager for the business-to-business (B2B) channel. Sargut has been with the company for 15 years, moving up from sales associate to district sales manager, to his new role. |

Leviton hires Kim: Jason Kim has been named as director of business development, metering solutions for Leviton's Lighting & Energy Solutions (LES) business. Kim's new role will provide a, "focus on continuing sales growth in commercial grade sub-metering and measurement and verification solutions." Kim has more than 14 years of industry experience, specifically, "in the areas of electric metering, tenant billing, and energy management software and distribution sales."

Border States Electric promotes Kvalheim: Brad Kvalheim has been named branch manager of the Sioux Falls, S.D., branch of Border States Electric (BSE). Kvelheim has been with BSE since 1989. He has previously worked as an electronic service technician, a utility customer service representative and an account manager. |

Cloud named to NESCO-Needham board of directors: Tom Cloud has been named to the board of directors for NESCO-Needham Electric Supply. Cloud is currently chairman of the board for United Electric Supply. In January 2010, Cloud retired as United Electric Supply's CEO; he had been with the company for 36 years. Cloud has also served as chairman of the board, member of the board of directors and Eastern region vice president for NAED. He was given the NAED Distributor Distinguished Service Award in 2008. Cloud was also named one of the "100 people who changed the Face of the Electrical Distribution Industry." |

Marchiando hired at Houston Wire & Cable: John Marchiando has been appointed to the position of regional vice president with Houston Wire & Cable Company (HWCC). Marciando's new responsibilities include, "building and leading a high performing team, driving corporate objectives and growing the market for the north central region." He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry in both manufacturing and distributing. Marchiando previously worked as the vice president of automation and control for Anixter. |
GE promotes Heintzelman: Dan Heintzelman has been named CEO of GE Oil & Gas. He succeeds Claudi Santiago who had worked in the position with GE for the last 12 years. In a news release, GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt said, “Dan (Heintzelman) is one of GE’s most experienced business leaders and brings a unique mix of operational excellence and customer focus to the role.” Heintzelman previously served as CEO of GE Energy Services.

ILSCO expands Heffernan's role: MaryJo Heffernan has had her position as manager of distributor services at ILSCO expanded. According to a news release, some of Heffernan's new responsibilities include, "overseeing the Quotations Department, as well as providing forecasting input, and administration of Regional Distribution Centers in conjunction with ILSCO operations." Those new duties will be added to Heffernan's existing role managing the customer service department. Heffernan has been with ILSCO for 15 years. |
