 Clyde G. Rutland |
Clyde Rutland, 92–died July 20. His obituary (found
here) includes this paragraph (divided here for easier reading):
Clyde was a
philanthropist and a remarkable man who lived an amazing life. He grew up in a
modest railroad family in east Houston. He went on to become a successful businessman
having one of the largest independent electrical distributorships in the
industry.
His greatest
achievement was Wholesale Electrical Supply Co. founded in 1949 by Clyde and
his beloved Marge. There are now 12 branches and over 475 employees. He was a
member of NAED and later became president. He supported the University of
Houston Industrial Distribution scholarship program and many other charities.

Rory Berumen and John Thomas
McCord III–Berumen, of Aurora, Colo., was reappointed to the State
Electrical Board by Gov. John Hickenlooper; he fills the slot of “a journeyman
electrician who is not an electrical contractor.” McCord, of Sadalia, Colo., will
serve as “master electrician who is not an electrical contractor.”
Patricia Hoffman and Bob
Shapard–were named co-chairs of the second annual GridWise
Global Forum (to be held Nov. 8-10 in Washington, D.C.). Hoffman is assistant
secretary for the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability at the DOE; Shapard is chairman of the GridWise Alliance.
Steve Nibbelink, CHPA–was
awarded the Elwood (Woody) G. Near Presidential Award from the International
Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). It is awarded to an
individual or facility by the Association President for outstanding service,
support, or an act which has benefited healthcare security, safety, risk management
and/or the IAHSS. Nibbelink is program director, healthcare security, for Schneider
Electric.
David Wascom–has
been appointed to the Board of Directors of Americas’ SAP Users’ Group, the
world’s largest independent SAP users’ group, representing 100,000 individuals
at 3,200 companies in 17 industries who use or provide this internationally
recognized enterprise resource planning system.Wascom is chief information officer and vice president for Summit Electric Supply in Albuquerque, N.M.

HCS PROMOTES METZELTHIN – Harry
Cooper Supply (Springfield, Mo.) has promoted J.C. Metzelthin to
general manager of the Springfield and Branson facilities. Metzelthin has been
with the company for 23 years.
OFFICE DEPOT’S NEW PREXY–Kevin Peters was named earlier this month as president of North
America for Office Depot. He joined the company (as an executive vice president) in 2007, after
spending five years in management roles at Grainger (and 11 years before that
with The Home Depot, including time as vice president/general manager of Home Depot Commercial Direct).
