Newton Selig Zuckerman, age 91, died
March 23. For 37 years, according to The Journal News (of Westchester
County, N.Y.), he ran O.N. Rosenberg & Son, “a hardware/electrical supply
store in Haverstraw, N.Y.”

Charles Collat—he’s chairman-emeritus of Mayer Electric
Supply, Birmingham, Ala., and, as the Birmingham News recently
reported, a first-round judge in the Prize2theFuture competition, sponsored
by the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. According to the newspaper,
Prize2theFuture has drawn 2,900 registered participants from 20 U.S. states,
78 Alabama cities and towns, and 38 foreign countries. There are 1,115
entries.

ASES NAMES McGRATH—Shaun
McGrath is the new executive director of the American Solar Energy Society,
effective last Friday. With 25 years of public policy experience under his belt,
his most recent position was as deputy director of intergovernmental affairs
at the Obama White House. Previous to that, he was mayor of Boulder, Colo.
ECHOFIRST ADDS TO BOARD—EchoFirst,
a solar power systems provider (known earlier as PVT Solar) had added Surinder
Brar to its board of directors. Brar’s full-time job is with Cisco Systems,
as chief strategist of the worldwide partner organization.
FUELCELL ENERGY’S NEW CEO—Chip
Bottone, who joined FuelCell Energy in February 2010, became president and
CEO on Feb. 8. He took the place of Dan Brdar, who will continue as chairman
until the 2011 annual meeting. FCE said this was part of a planned management
succession strategy.
Bottone had been senior
vice president and COO. Brdar joined the company in 2000 and became CEO in 2006.
GOLDWIND USA ADDS THREE—Kate
Dusett (formerly with Gamesa) is now director of sales-strategy for Latin
America at Goldwind USA. Jeffrey Peterson (once with GE Wind Energy)
and Christopher Wittwer (who worked for Clipper Wind Power) have hired
on as regional sales managers.
NY-BEST NAMES DIRECTOR—William
Acker, founder of MTI MicroFuel Cells (now a subsidiary of Mechanical Technology
Inc.) recently took the post of executive director of the New York Battery and
Energy Storage Technology Consortium.
