NEMA's monthly report on the numerical read-out of its survey of its manufacturer members produced a big exclamation point for January: An increase (to 79.2) in the Electroindustry Business Confidence Index for future North American conditions.

"Future" conditions is a read-out of how NEMA's members think things will be in six months' time. The read-out has increased nearly 20 points from the November reading; any number above "50" indicates an expansion.

The "current" conditions reading was 54.2 in January, up from 52 in December. That's the fourth straight month in which the "current" EBCI topped the 50 mark.
